Happy Tuesday

As I sit here to write this post I am in a quandary. I have a gazillion things I need to get done yet I’m just not feeling it today.

Here are a few of the reason I have come up with so far.

  1. It is overcast and looks like we might have a nice monsoon/haboob storm.
  2. I was working on my computer all day yesterday and I used a lot of my brain power so today the brain is in shutdown mode.
  3. Since I had to work on my computer all day yesterday, I had to stay up late to finish a couple craft projects.
  4. Takara (my furry, four legged, beautiful baby girl cat) keeps jumping up here on my desk and just plopping herself down in front of me wanting to be loved. Now I can’t deny her my attention and love!
  5. My blood sugar was a little high this morning so I walked on the treadmill for 15 min. before breakfast. For breakfast I had a poached egg, 1 cup of beans I made yesterday, and 10 raspberries. I know it sounds awful but it is filling and there are no carbs just protein.
  6. Plus hubby is at work so I have all day to get stuff done, no need to rush (at least not until the last hour before he comes home) right?

Well, all the above are great excuses not to get my butt in gear, and maybe if I didn’t have a deadline to get some of these projects done then I could take a day off and be lazy. October is just around the corner and I don’t have half the projects done that I had planned on having completed by now. It is crunch time for me right now, so no being lazy!

Nice pep talk but still not feeling it yet!

Takara is still purring away laying across my arms as I type. I love when she is like this because it’s like she can’t get or give enough love fast enough. She is Tonkinese so tends to be quite demanding, very affectionate when she wants to be, playful when she want to be and quite vocal at times. She has definitely been my cat from the day she showed up on our doorstep 11 years ago as a tiny kitten.

I have read that the Tonkinese life expectancy is between 11 and 14 years, I sure hope that the figure is wrong. Awww…So see another reason I need to just sit here and hold her as long as possible. Every minute is so precious with her and I don’t want to take that for granted.

Oh, I almost forgot. This past weekend was my husbands birthday and a while back I had asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he said “nothing, except maybe some good bar-b-que.” meaning his favorite BBQ place. So on his birthday we went up to the city and I took him over to his favorite BBQ place and they were closed because of cooler issues so they wouldn’t be open until maybe the next day if they could fix the problem. Needless to say we were both disappointed. I took him to his next almost favorite place but I could tell he wasn’t as excited.

I was very upset because everything I had planned to surprise him with this week fell apart. So I felt that his birthday was a complete disaster.

This man loves his “techy toys” and has just about everything he wants as far as that stuff goes. He is also an artist (like the drawing kind) so he has all the art supplies that he needs and wants for now.  He doesn’t do any kind of woodworking or carpentry so he doesn’t need any tools. He is good at taking care of the yard and maintaining the plants but doesn’t really have the time now that he is working all these crazy hours.

So as a surprise on Tuesday July 17, I had called a landscaper/gardener to come trim the tree and clean up the bushes out front and fix the irrigation system for him. The lady said that she would call me right back with the day and time later in the week that they could come out, but she never did. I called a couple other places the next day but they were going to charge extra for coming out of town (they were out of my budget anyway). That was a failed gift for my husband.

Now do you see why I was so upset? I really felt like crying because I had nothing else planned to give him.

Low and behold as we pulled into our driveway, after coming back from the city on Friday, there were two people in our yard just finishing picking up the debris from the tree and bushes. Our yard was totally transformed, it looked so good and we were both surprised. It was the lady I had talked to on Tuesday and her husband. The husband had fixed the irrigation system and then showed my husband what he did and how to repair it on his own. They were awesome and very reasonable in price.

Thank you Lord for once again answering my prayer!

It turned out to be a good day after all and no tears were shed.

Ok, after a few interruptions (phone calls, cats fighting, dryer stopping/ folding clothes and potty breaks) while writing this post it is now lunch time. So I must go and do another blood check and then eat accordingly.

Thank you for sticking around with me as I rambled on this morning. I do feel better and like I will get most of the stuff on my list of thing to do today done. Thank YOU!

Have a great day and do something positive today.

P.S. No storm yet but still semi-overcast and ugly looking outside.

Aren’t they just gorgeous? LOL…..NOT!

Last night my friend K. and I went to a cookie decorating class and these are the cookies that I decorated, minus one because my husband had to try one right away.

We had a lot of fun and met a lot of wonderful ladies. But as far as ever being a professional cookie decorator I don’t think that I passed that part of the class, so I will just leave that to Bonnie Adams our instructor and co-owner of Inspired Sugar. Please go check out their website and while you are there be sure to order some of their delicious  sugar cookies. My husband said that he really liked these cookies because they weren’t really sugary sweet but just enough sweetness not to make you sick. I haven’t tried them because I have eliminated sweets from my menu, due to my diabetes, at least for now anyway.

They had a few different drawings for some really neat prizes and the very first drawing they had I won and this is what I got.

3-7-2018-2 001

It makes a 1- 4″ cookie in the shape of a whimsical cake. I immediately thought of polymer clay and Alice in Wonderland. So who knows, you might see cookies or a clay craft project soon using this set.

To receive this gift was a complete surprise, because I rarely ever win anything, so I am going to cherish this for a long time. Thank you Bonnie!

One thing that I realized last night after the class was that I crave the learning. Is that weird? Let me explain what I mean. 1. I find that learning something new at my age is a little intimidating and sometimes takes a little longer to catch on, but I love the challenge. 2. Doing or learning something outside my comfort zone is at times very difficult but  good because it helps me grow and be more diverse. 3. I find that being around artistic/ crafty people it is very inspiring, quite spiritual and always fun. 4. Life is about learning and I have a long ways to go yet so I have a lot more to learn. There you have it, that’s not too weird.

Hopefully no matter what your passion you will continue to learn and challenge yourself to be a better person and grow with your knowledge and determination. Every company, corporation, and business was started from the heart. Because someone believed in their dream and challenged themselves to learn and grow with the business. Believe in your dream and above all else believe in yourself.

So, to end this post I would like to thank Dira Reeves for hosting this class and Bonnie Adams for taking the time to come teach this class to all of us. I had a good time meeting and networking with other fun, artistic and crafty ladies.

I’m so excited….

Last week I was busy working on my first order that I received from my weekend at The Big Tin Cotton Gin. This week I will be working on another order and also prepping for the next show November 17 – 19. It’s only a couple weeks away and so now is the crunch time for making all my Christmas items and rearranging my booth to accommodate all the new stuff. This is the first year that I have done anything like this and I am loving the whole vibe that you get from being around so many other creative/artistic people. I plan to take a lot more photo’s at the next show so that I can share the experience with all of you.

Here are a few pictures of my booth from this month and the items that I had.

I will be having more Christmas items for the next show and a lot more stocking stuffer type items.

If you have any ideas or suggestions for items I should have in my booth please comment or email me I would appreciate all feedback I can get.

Thank you all for following me and putting up with all these long in between lulls with my posts. When I get in a zone I kinda tune out the rest of the world and only focus on the task at hand, I even neglect my poor husband and our cats of my attention. Although I’m sure my husband doesn’t mind the quiet during my “creative times”.

Below is a picture of just a few of the cute little trio nugget boxes I made for this last weeks order.

10-28-2017 003

This is not my original design for these little boxes I actually got the design and instructions from Julie DiMatteo at The Paper Pixie. She is also an Independent Stampin’ Up Demonstrator and she has a lot of really cute gift box ideas. I really like her instruction videos because she takes you step by step and makes it very simple and easy to follow (I like simple and easy). Be sure to check out her new 2017 cute Christmas gift box ideas.

Have a great week!

P.S. Everyone that stops by my booth at The Big Tin Cotton Gin November 17-19, and says hi will receive a free gift from me.

Big Tin Cotton Gin

Yes, I have been absent for the past few weeks because I have been so busy working and getting ready for this show at the Big Tin Cotton Gin. It has been worth the loss of sleep and last minute stressing, because I have met so many wonderful people and all of my “neighbors” are the best neighbors a person could ask for. Everyone is so talented, and as I looked around today I realized that every booth out here complimented one another with all the different items and crafts that are being sold. Pam and her team did a great job of planning and placing all of us where she did in order to get this kind of flow, thank you Pam.

Now I would like to introduce you to my outdoor “neighbors” so you can get an idea of what I am talking about and if you get the chance come by tomorrow Oct. 22, 2017, and say “hi”,  we are all going to be there from 9:30 am to 3 pm. These following pictures do not do justice to any of the items being displayed, but they are just to give you an idea as to what is available and to introduce you to the vendors and artists.

Siouxzie Thomas is the owner of Gingham Ladybug and she makes the cutest little pocket pouches, headbands with bows, beautiful little top hats that can be worn using a headband or ribbon, and all her different bags. Please go check out her Facebook page at Gingham Ladybug and her Etsy shop to find out more about her and her products.

Laurel and James Dickie own LJ Ultimate Designs and they make some of the most fun T-Shirts and hats. As you can see from the pictures above the metal work is phenomenal but don’t take my word for it come check it out for yourself or go to their Facebook page LJ Ultimate Designs Printing and Apparel or email them for more information at

Over The Top is the name of this shop and she has some really beautiful pieces in here,  these pictures only show a small portion of what she has. Be sure to go check out her Facebook page at Over The Top to see all the items she has to offer.

This shop is right in front of my shop and I have been looking at it all day for two days now and still have not seen everything in it, because she has so many little decorative items that are vintage or just old looking but definitely very cool stuff. These pictures only show a small portion of the wonderful treasure to be found in this shop. I will post tomorrow with the information and more picture for this shop, I am so sorry I did not get a card for her today.

This is an awesome lady that owns because of LOVE Boutique and everything she has in her shop reflects her personality and the name of her shop.  A portion of all the proceeds for the angel ornaments (photo in upper right hand corner) goes to the Jonathan Dale Miller Foundation and right now until November 1, 2017, if you pre-order these adorable little angels you SAVE 20%. For more information about these and the other items she has to offer please go check out her Facebook page at because of Love boutique.

I hope that if you are out in the San Tan area tomorrow you will stop by the Big Tin Cotton Gin at 1572 W. Ocotillo Rd. San Tan Valley Az. 85140, we will be there from 9:30 until 3 pm.

Goodnight everyone!

Paper Pumpkin Holiday Kits

Check out this video for the October and November Paper Pumpkin kits.

October and November Paper Pumpkin kits

If you are on the fence about committing to card making and other paper projects because of space, money, time or not know where to start. Paper Pumpkin is the perfect solution, it has all the supplies you will need to complete what ever project they send you each month including the instructions. Plus everything fits in the little box that they are shipped in and you can easily store it in a drawer, on a shelf or under your bed. They are quick and easy to put together, yet they look like you spent hours designing them, so your friends and family will be very impressed when you tell them that you made it just for them.

The other great thing I like about Paper Pumpkin is that you can pause your subscription at any time for any reason and restart it when you are ready. You can also cancel your subscription at any time for any reason with no strings attached, meaning that there are no hidden fees, penalties or hoops to jump through.

For more information please follow this link Paper Pumpkin and be sure to contact me if you have any questions.

Have a great day!

Yes, I am still here. Sorry for the long absence but over the last few weeks I have been taking an online course that has been very mind boggling for an old fart like me. The course is to help me with my business, the hard part is I don’t know where to apply it to make it work. So as not to confuse you all, I will get this all figured out and then I would like to share my journey with you.

Now you know why I have been a bit absent but I have been thinking about my blog, and all of you my wonderful peeps, every day. I have missed being here and spending time creating, you should see my house it has been neglected too!

When I start something I really do get totally submerged and I kinda get annoyed when “LIFE” get’s in the way. You know what I mean? Things like eating – really is food all that important to maintain life?  sleeping– now that is way over rated, a couple hours a day is all that should be required.  And showering – please…you don’t get really ripe until what the third day maybe?, look our ancestors only bathed once a week and they had to share their bath water.

So now that I slept a whole 6 hours last night, took a shower this morning, did 2 loads of laundry, and just ate some dinner I am ready to get back to schooling.

I did take an evening one day last week to make a few Mother’s Day cards on a request from a client and I thoroughly enjoyed those hours of creating. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy, leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Momma Chick exploding box card – 4″ x 4″ with lid on – 12″ x 12″ with lid off.

My version of our warm southwest. Sunflower bouquet box card – folds flat and fits into an A2 size envelope.

Spring time in a box – card folds flat and fits into an A2 size envelope. I love how bright and cheery this one turned out.

Ok, break time is over and now I really do have to get back to my studies – wish me luck! I hope that you all have a great week and don’t forget next Sunday is Mother’s Day so be sure to treat yourselves and do something special for your mom.

P.S. Go check out my Stampin’ Up site they are having some Awesome Sales right now until May 30, 2017, after that most of those items will be discontinued. Also the New Annual catalog will be available June 1, 2017, so if you would like a catalog just let me know and I will get one to you or you can contact your demonstrator to request one.

Sample Cards for Class

Well the other day I said that I would post pictures of the sample cards for the card class on Saturday, February 25, 2017, so here they are. This time I decided to take all my samples from Pinterest, I didn’t go by patterns just the pictures that I found so they are a little rough but the kits for class are accurate and more refined.

This card is so pretty and I thought that you could use it for a Birthday, Easter, Anniversary, Wedding, Sympathy or Just Because card. This sample came from Sage Kimble over at Stamping Madly she also has a Facebook page and a Saving Time Video that has a lot of good tips for stamping.

Isn’t this Thank You card so pretty? I love the colors. This idea came from Shelly Godby over at Stamping Smiles.

The sentiment and ribbon on this card are very versatile to make this more casual for a Thank You, Birthday, Just Because, Friend, etc. This idea came from Beth’s Fancy Stamping she also has a Facebook page.

This next card is so cute I couldn’t resist making this one, especially since this was one of my most favorite arcade games to play as a kid, come on you remember Pac Man! As you can see I cut the long outside piece too short and had to glue a little bit to the bottom, but the kit will have the correct length. This idea came from Dany Piepgrass over at INKcredible Creations.

This one I came up with by myself and my inspiration came from a bunch of hair style pictures that people had posted on Pinterest. I love this crazy chicken and her hair/feathers and thought that she would be perfect for the different highlights and colored hair samples.

I also came up with these two different Thank You cards with that vintage sort of feel. I don’t think we will make this one in class because I am not really happy with the way they turned out but I still wanted to share them with you.2-19-2017-027

This is such a cheery card with all the bright colors and happy chickens. The idea for this card came from Michele Jutrisa over at Butterflys & Bows.

Now all these links I looked up for you after I saw the pictures on Pinterest and created the samples, because I wanted to give all these very talented women credit for their creations. Please be sure to go check out their sites as well and see all their beautiful works of art.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope that you leave me a comment below letting me know which one is your favorite and if you would like to see me recreate more Pinterest inspired cards/crafts.

Happy Belated Valentines

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Valentines with their sweetheart!

This weekend was a very exciting for me as well as eventful and enlightening. My very best friend that I call “sis” (because we are sisters, but not by blood), and I set up a Valentines booth down town this weekend next to another friend that makes and sells Kettle Corn. Below are a few pictures.

These pictures were from Saturday, that is “sis” in the first picture. We didn’t have too much stuff because we didn’t really know how well things would sell. “Sis” did pretty well with her flower arrangements and I did alright, but most of all we had fun.

The one thing that made my day was I got to chat with this gentleman about his  Dodge Hellcat just like the one below only his had the black stripes down the side just like the 1972 version. He even let me sit in the car to get a feel for it, but he kept the keys in his pocket, LOL!

I had a 2007 Dodge Charger and loved it, but the Hellcat has been my dream car since they came out and I watched a segment Jay Leno did about the Hellcat.

When he started up the car it just purred with this powerful rumble that shook the ground and makes you tingle all over, now if that doesn’t get your heart pumping! The whale of the engine as he took off just about popped the eardrums like at the NASCAR raceway in the pits. I love the fact that this car is stock with all the power and speed you would expect and more, from a muscle car. I got these following pictures off the internet because I was so excited I forgot to take pictures of his car, the one I actually got to sit in!

1972 Dodge Charger

2016 Dodge Hellcat

Alright enough about cars and back to our Valentines booth. It was a beautiful day except it was a bit windy, but the sun was out so it was nice and warm. My husband got to see a lot of old friends and one of his cousins as they all came to buy Kettle Corn, some even came over to our booth afterwards. So all in all it was a great day!

Now Sunday we were out there again and did a little better in sales but we lost about four balloons because of the wind. Once again Nate was out there making and selling his Kettle Corn right next to us and we all had a great time.

Sundays highlight was, one of my husbands old friends he hadn’t seen in many years came by with his car. Pictures are below.

He restored this car himself and does this for a living. He is going to be showing this car and another one at The Arizona Super Show Feb. 25, 2017 in Glendale at the University of Phoenix Stadium. I would love to go but I have a card class that day, so if you are into car shows and by chance attend this one or any other shows in your area send me some pictures I would love to see them and possibly post them on a future blog.

Below is a picture of Lalo the owner of the car and Nate our Kettle Corn guy! My husband has known these two guys since they were all kids, so he had a great time catching up and spending time with them.

Well, that was my weekend and I had a blast! Tell me about your weekend by leaving a comment below I would love to hear what you did and what your highlights were this weekend.

Have a great rest of the week!

The Big Tin Gin

Last night the weather man said it was going to be windy, cold and raining today and all weekend, so I was a little bit discouraged, yet hopeful that a he might be wrong (for today at least), because I have been planning for a few weeks now to make this trip to The Big Tin Gin. Guess what? It was cold and raining but no wind when I woke up this morning. After a few minutes of going back and forth from the front and back windows of the house I decided to just tough it out and go, and was I ever so glad that I did.

Today turned out to be a wonderful day even with all the rain, cold and mud, because I met some really great people and saw some beautiful pieces that they were selling. One of the great people that I met today, and got a chance to chat with for a minute, was the owner of The Big Tin Gin and the organizer of this event. She is a beautiful lady inside and out, and she was telling me that after her husband passed away she decided to start this event not only to give this old gin a new life, but also to bring local artists together and share their beautiful creations with the community. Most of the artisan vendors at the The Big Tin Gin Vintage and Repurposed Market have been regulars pretty much since she opened her doors, “so” she said, “they all feel like family”. I found that very touching, because to me it sounded like she really did enjoy having all these “girls” (as she called them) come back every month for this event. The atmosphere was very cozy and pleasant (even thou it was a little cold due to the rain) inside. I really did enjoy my visit and plan on going back.

While there I also got permission to take pictures of some of the items that I wanted to share with you. I hope that you enjoy scrolling through these pictures, but remember there is a lot more to see there so if you live in Arizona, or are here visiting, then you need to take the time to go check out The Big Tin Gin Vintage and Repurposed Market. The event is only once a month in the winter months, so it is going on this weekend  January 20-22, 2017  Fri.- Sat. 9:30 am – 4 pm, Sun. 9:30 am – 2:30 pm. Their website has a listing of up coming events for the next two months and a map on how to get there, plus contact information if you would like to be a vendor.

This is the gin and the very first booth I saw right out front. I want that chicken on the stand and the chicken wreath, I just love them both.

This was in one of the booth’s right inside the door, I had to take a picture because I just thought that this was such a clever way to display her rings.

I am in this crazy faze about chickens, so anything with chickens I am automatically drawn to and this cute collection of chicken items are on my love list. This is all from Dragonfly Designs by Lynn Edwards. These were just a few items that she had in her booth, she has a lot more awesome stuff. You definitely must go see her if you are looking for restyled furniture and/or whimsical decor.

I found these to be very cute and functional, but she did have a lot more really cool stuff on the other side of this wall. Her name is Joey Nelson and the shop name is “the luckiest collection”.  This was a really fun booth, that is probably why it was so busy, plus she was very outgoing and  friendly.

I think that the little light blue dresser and mirror are so cute. She had a lot of those wall hangings and my favorite was “all you need is love and a Margarita”. I loved that trunk. Wouldn’t this box of drawers be great to store crafting items in to keep things close at hand and organized. There were so many cute little decorative items here too. Check out their facebook page at Pistol6.

Here is some jewelry at one of the booths I thought was pretty cool.

When I saw this little blue dresser it brought back memories, because I had one just like this as a kid, only mine wasn’t this pretty, it was oak I do believe and it had a big round mirror attached to the back. I just loved this big white entertainment cabinet so I had to share it with you.

The sign has a little bit of a glare but it says Twiggy’s Furniture and that is the name of this beautiful shop. I loved and wanted everything in this booth.

This was my favorite jewelry booth, she had everything displayed so nicely. I loved the charm necklaces and the bottle cap charms. The license plate bracelets are totally cool. Check out Corona Couture and the designer Lilia Corona.

Now these were my most favorite items, but I fell in love with a lot or should I say almost everything under the gins roof. You will just have to go see for yourself.

Thank you so much for stopping by to check out my blog and I hope that you enjoyed my little outing with me today. Have a great weekend and stay safe!
