Halloween Cards

Today I wanted to share with you the cards that we made in our card class yesterday, Saturday 9-17-2017. We had a lot of fun even though it did take a little longer than our usual classes, but when you see what we did you will understand. I think they all turned out so cute! Enjoy…

This is the first card that we made using a mix of new and old paper, stamps, and embellishment from Stampin’ Up. The DSP Spooky Night (144610)is in the New Stampin’ Up Holiday catalog, the little pumpkin and its hat are cut out of one of 12 x 12 DSP in the package. The stamp “Witches Brew with Scream and Sugar” is from the Merry Cafe Stamp set (144965) in the New Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog. The hat on the back, the star stir stick wands and the little spider on from last year or the year before Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up called “Howl-o-ween Treat”. The little bats are from last years “Halloween Scenes” Edgelits Dies. The little Witch is from “Haunt Ya Later” stamp set by Stampin’ Up two or three years ago. The cardstock is Pumpkin Pie (145483) from the Stampin’ Up annual catalog.

Here is the second card that we made. The cats are cut out from one of the sheets in the Spooky Nights Designer Series Paper (144610) using the New Cat Punch (144666). The pumpkins are cut out of another sheet from the Spooky Nights DSP pack (144610), those were all cut out by hand (fussy cut). The Vintage Crochet Trim (144611) is also in the New Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog. The spooky tree in the back is from last years Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies. The cardstock is Pumpkin Pie (145483) and the DSP is from the Spooky Nights DSP pack. The sentiment stamp is from the Spooky Cat stamp set (144749) in the New Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog.

This was the last card that we made and it is also a mix of old and new holiday catalog items. The DSP, the cats, the hats and the lace trim are all from this years Stampin’ Up Holiday catalog. The DSP in the background with the little house and bats is from last year. The little fence, flying witch, grave stones and bat are from last years Halloween Scenes edgelits dies set. The sentiment is from the “Haunt Ya Later” stamp set from two or three years ago.

Here is our last and final project we made, isn’t it the cutes? The idea is not mine so I have to give the credit to Julie from The Paper Pixie . I watched her YouTube video which was so simple to follow and she goes step by step from start to finish, including wrapping the nuggets. Go check her out and try your hand at making one of these adorable little treat boxes. They are the perfect size to give as party favors, co-worker gifts, teachers, or if you know you are going out to dinner then make one and leave it for your waiter/waitress – wouldn’t that be a “sweet” surprise.

Well that’s it for our class projects, aren’t they all so cute and fun for Halloween? I will be posting some of the other stuff I have been working on lately over the next few days along with pictures of the samples for next weeks card class where we are going to be making Thanksgiving and Christmas cards.

Have a wonderful Sunday afternoon!

Stationery Box

Oh, I am so excited to show you this cute stationery box I made last night while watching Maymay Made it Crafts on You Tube. I hope that you enjoy this video, it explains it all.

Sorry about that, I guess I talked a little too much because, I ran out of time and my camera cut me off. Well, what did you think of the layout for this project? Please leave a comment below with your ideas, pictures or suggestions you might have I would love to hear from you!

Here are a few still photos for you to take a look at as well.

You know I think this would be a great project for us to work on in our card class this Saturday, August 26, 2017. What do you all think? Let me know if you just want to make all the cards or if you would be interested in making the whole thing.

Now to recap, this was not my original idea I got this from Maymay Made it Crafts, so please go check out her site. She also has a shop and sells all kinds of craft items, plus her You Tube tutorials are awesome. Very talented lady with some wonderful ideas.

If you have any questions or suggestions about this project please contact me and if you have ever made one of these before I would love to see what you did. I am going to make a Christmas one next and when I get that one done I will post some pictures of it as well.

Oh, almost forgot I wanted to share with you the cards we made in our last class, because remember I only posted the layout samples not the actual cards we made. So take a look and let me know what you think.

Dia de los Muertos Box Card

Today I wanted to share with you my very first video and my first Dia de los Muertos (day of the dead) box card for this year. I really had fun putting this box card together, wait I say that about all my box cards but it is true. Now this video on the other hand, well that was very challenging for me, I didn’t write out a script or prepare ahead of time I just winged the whole thing, because I as so excited to share this with you. Please be patient with me and with practice I will get better at these videos, so don’t jump ship just yet.

Well here is the video, please comment below and let me know what you think. Enjoy!

I am also including some still pictures for you to reference.

This is the outside view of the box card with the lid on.

This is the inside view of the card as soon as you take off the lid. The flaps on this layer can be used to put picture on this flower side and on the back side of the flap you can write a message or place more pictures.

This is the second layer and this layer has three pockets with tags and one flap that has a tie down closure.

This is the third layer. I think this layer is the most serene and pretty layer because of the blue background, the white lacy doilies and the gold medallion doilies on each flap. Plus I love the idea of this being the alter portion of the card, it just fits. You definitely don’t have to use this as an alter area,  pictures would look really good with these pretty backgrounds and would display nicely set out on a table just like this.

Well, I hope that you enjoyed this video and the pictures, please leave a comment below and let me know what you think. If you have any questions about this card or the items used please contact me I would love to assist you and your creativity any way I can.

Have a great week!

Yes, I am still here. Sorry for the long absence but over the last few weeks I have been taking an online course that has been very mind boggling for an old fart like me. The course is to help me with my business, the hard part is I don’t know where to apply it to make it work. So as not to confuse you all, I will get this all figured out and then I would like to share my journey with you.

Now you know why I have been a bit absent but I have been thinking about my blog, and all of you my wonderful peeps, every day. I have missed being here and spending time creating, you should see my house it has been neglected too!

When I start something I really do get totally submerged and I kinda get annoyed when “LIFE” get’s in the way. You know what I mean? Things like eating – really is food all that important to maintain life?  sleeping– now that is way over rated, a couple hours a day is all that should be required.  And showering – please…you don’t get really ripe until what the third day maybe?, look our ancestors only bathed once a week and they had to share their bath water.

So now that I slept a whole 6 hours last night, took a shower this morning, did 2 loads of laundry, and just ate some dinner I am ready to get back to schooling.

I did take an evening one day last week to make a few Mother’s Day cards on a request from a client and I thoroughly enjoyed those hours of creating. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy, leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Momma Chick exploding box card – 4″ x 4″ with lid on – 12″ x 12″ with lid off.

My version of our warm southwest. Sunflower bouquet box card – folds flat and fits into an A2 size envelope.

Spring time in a box – card folds flat and fits into an A2 size envelope. I love how bright and cheery this one turned out.

Ok, break time is over and now I really do have to get back to my studies – wish me luck! I hope that you all have a great week and don’t forget next Sunday is Mother’s Day so be sure to treat yourselves and do something special for your mom.

P.S. Go check out my Stampin’ Up site they are having some Awesome Sales right now until May 30, 2017, after that most of those items will be discontinued. Also the New Annual catalog will be available June 1, 2017, so if you would like a catalog just let me know and I will get one to you or you can contact your demonstrator to request one.

Custom Order

Well, I was so thrilled when I got this custom order thru Two Plates Full back at the end of November. The customer gave me full artistic control of these cards, the only request was that they all had to be the large exploding box cards and all Birthday. It took me a week and a half to get all seven of these done, but I had so much fun making each one different.

Both these last two tea light cakes open up just like the first one so that you can put a little gift inside. You are also able to turn the tea lights off and on with all the tea light cakes.

This tea light cake also opens for placing a small gift.

With this one I also added a tea light cake to put inside the little round box and take it out and set it on top.

You may remember these last two from an earlier post I just changed them up a bit for this order.

Have a great week and be safe out there while you are doing your last minute Christmas shopping.

Last of the Christmas Cards

Here we are just one week away from Christmas, are you ready? I guess I am as ready as I am going to be. The one thing I did not do this year is make my Christmas Tamale’s, I know that I have disappointed many people in not doing so and I am so sorry for that, but then again there is only one me and I can’t do everything (even though at times I think I can). This season my top priorities have been my clients and my cards for Two Plates Full.

I have already made my New Year’s resolution and that is to be more organized and ahead of the game in 2017, that is why I am already starting on my Valentines, St. Patrick’s Day and Thank You cards. As soon as I get some pictures taken I will post them.

Below are my last pictures of Christmas cards for the season that I delivered to Scottsdale last week.

Merry Christmas everyone! See you in the New Year.

Halloween Box Card

Here is another Halloween Box Card that I made last week that I wanted to share with you. This card also folds flat for mailing.

This card was made using stickers from Micheal’s, designer paper I got last year from Micheal’s, Stampin’ Up cardstock, the tree and bats are from the Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies by Stampin’ Up, and the little house is cut out of the Halloween Night Specialty DSP by Stampin’Up. The paper in the background are two more patterns in the Halloween Night Specialty DSP pack by Stampin’ Up. The wahsi tape and baker’s twine in the background are also from Stampin’ Up under the Halloween Night suite. To purchase any of the Stampin’ Up items just go to my Shop 24/7 Stampin’ Up icon on the right hand side of your screen, click on shop now and you will find them in the Holiday Catalog or you can just contact me and I will assist you.

Now go have fun and create something spooky for Halloween.

Kids Halloween Box Cards

Here are the Kids Halloween Box Cards that I made on Saturday, September 17, 2016. I had a lot of fun making these. Thinking like a kid and trying to remember what I liked as a kid is how I put these cards together. Take a look and let me know what you think. Oh, and all these cards fold flat so that you can put them in an envelope and send through the mail with regular postage.

Sorry, it was sort of overcast outside when I took these so the pictures didn’t come out quite as crisp and clear as usual.

Well it is time for me to get some shut eye, I am exhausted. I will post tomorrow pictures of what I have been doing today.

Spooky Halloween Box Card

This is one of the box cards that I completed over the weekend and will be posting for sale in my shop.

These little picture frames have those skeleton pictures in them that change from a regular picture of a person to the skeleton version of them. They are actually stickers that I got at Micheal’s and they are all on sale right now along with most of their other Halloween stuff. The paper I got a couple years ago and I am not sure where or the brand, I’m sorry. The little medallion’s on the outside of the box are stickers that I got at Micheal’s as well. The flower on the front is two different sized paper flowers I had and glued them together and glued a black rhinestone in the center. The black string is the new Stampin’ Up – Black Metalic Thread. Then I used some Halloween decorating spider webbing, you can purchase just about anywhere this time of year, to web around the picture frames and a little on the flaps just to give it more of a spooking old feel.

Go buy some of these fun skeleton stickers and make your own Spooky Halloween card, post them and send me a link I would love to see what you come up with.

Have a spooktacular day!

Halloween Box Card

Thank you to everyone that stopped by the Farmer’s Market in old town Casa Grande yesterday. It was fun talking to everyone and meeting so many wonderful people. I didn’t sell one thing, but I had a great time and am looking forward to next Tuesday’s Farmer’s Market. If you get a chance come down and say “Hi”, and bring a friend. It is really small right now because it is inside Herbalicious, but in October it will be held outside and it will be much bigger. I forgot to take pictures so I will post some of next weeks event.

Wow, it is still sprinkling outside, the sky is all grey, the air is still and looks like it should be cool outside but it is very humid and hot. I wonder if it will be like this all day? I wish, I love days like this, because for some reason I am so much more productive.

Now down to business…lol.

Here is one of the Halloween box cards that I made and the step by step process in pictures.

These are all the base pieces cut out. The box (the solid grey, scored cardstock at the top of the picture) is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″. Score length wise down the middle at 2 1/2″, then score width wise at 2″, 4″, 6″ and 8″. The pattern for the box will be posted under this tutorial. The back panels (the long brick looking pieces) are 5 2/8″ x 1 4/8″. The bottom panels are 2 4/8″ x 1 4/8″. The top panels are 2 2/8″ x 1 4/8″.

When you glue the pieces on this is what it should look like for the outside.

These are the only panels that you will put on the opposite/front side.

Take the little 3″ x 1 1/8″ strips, these are going to be the center pieces to hold your display/decorations. Fold them on 1/2″ score lines just like shown in the pictures above and below.

This is how it should look when you have all the pieces glued in place.

Then you will glue your front panel on the inside of the back flap like in the above picture.

Here are a couple of the stamps and edgelits in the Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog, from the Spooky Fun Stamp Set and Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies bundle, that I used.

Here they are all cut out.

Here are a couple more of the Edgelits from the same bundle that I used for this card.

Here is the final product.

Let me know if you would like me to post more step by step picture tutorials. Be sure to contact me if you would like a Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog (only available from September 1, 2016 – January 3, 2017) or the Annual Catalog.

Halloween Exploding Box Card

This week I have been working on Halloween cards, my boho scarves/scoodies, and my crochet tote bags for the up coming Farmer’s Market next Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016. If you are in town stop by and say hi, I will be there from 9 am to 1 pm.

So for a sneak peak at what I have been up to, here is one of the Halloween Exploding Box Card’s I have made.

I think I still want to add some cob webs to the sides of the skull but other than that it is done. Wouldn’t this make the perfect desk top Halloween decoration?! I am going to make another one just like this, but I think I am going to try and find a skull that lights up and that is lite weight to put in the middle, wouldn’t that look awesome?

The paper is from the New Stampin’ Up Holiday Catalog, it’s called:

Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper 142022 and

Halloween Night 12″x 12″ Cardstock Pack 142023

The skull and 3D sticker’s I got at Micheal’s  and the ink I used to age the paper was Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink Pad.

To make the box base use the same pattern I used for the Vintage Exploding Box card.

Happy Halloween.
