Happy New Year

So it is better late than never to wish you all a Happy New Year, at least it is still January.

How has everyone been? I hope that you all are working hard on your New Year’s resolutions still! I have heard several times on the radio and also read an article recently that said most people that make New Year’s resolutions only stick to them for the first two weeks and then they give up. That is why I don’t make a New Year’s resolution.

Well if you haven’t noticed I have been sort of busy, there are a few new things in the shop, be sure to check out the Valentine’s Day items. I have also started my new Twitch channel that I stream live every day and that keeps me busy and on track with my projects. Be sure to stop by say “hi” and hit the follow button. Once I hit 50 followers on Twitch we are going to have a drawing, and three lucky people will receive something hand made by me.

Still feeding Takara her boiled chicken every two hours, and she is doing great still alive and as ornery as ever. Jackson keeps growing, I think he is going to be the size of a small Bob Cat when he is done. Even with his size he is still afraid of all 13 of the females in his pride. It is funny as soon as Jackson goes out front the female cats start surrounding him and take turns rubbing up against him and talking to him. Poor boy just stands there all confused as to what he is supposed to do and then he takes off for his bush and hides there until my husband gets him out.

The girls outside (Jackson’s pride) are getting so healthy looking, now that we and the neighbor across the street are are feeding them on a regular basis. We feed the girls in the evening and the neighbor feeds them in the morning and believe me those girls know which house to be at at what time.

Yeah my life is so exciting all I have to talk about is cat’s, crafting and weather. LOL….aren’t you so glad you started following me?

Well, one real exciting thing that has happened! The New 2019 Stampin’ Up! Occasions and Celebration Catalogs are out so if you are interested in receiving the set please let me know and I will be happy to send one out to you. If you already have a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator please contact them for a set.

Be sure to check out the three flyers on the Front Page of my site for a sneak peak of the awesome opportunities, offers and options that are being given during this time until March 31, 2019. Please contact me if you have any questions, would like to host a Stampin’ Up! party/workshop/class, if you want to place an order or if you would like to sign up as a Demonstrator.

Alright, it is time for me to go get a couple hours of shut eye before I have to get up and pack “hubbies” lunch and send him off to work. Then I have to do my Friday household chores before I start streaming.

Good morning all!

Merry Christmas

Today is the day that family and friends spend together celebrating by exchanging gifts and having lavish feasts. But do we really know or remember what we are celebrating? What this day really means? Not just a day off from work for the adults or winter break for the kids.

This is the day that we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. So this is also a holy day, a day that we should be generous and kind to one another. I believe that every day of the year we should be generous and kind to one another, but then that is just me.

I love to watch the old animated “The little Drummer Boy” movie, and every year when I watch it I cry. That movie always reminds me that no matter how humble the gift, if it comes from the heart with love, then it is even more precious than all the gold or fine jewels in the world.

What is your favorite holiday movie? Why? I really would like to see your comments below or email me privately if you like.

For the last several years I have a regular routine every Christmas. I wake up and say a prayer of thanks to God. I make pancakes and eggs for my husband and I. We feed the cats their special feast of fancy cat foods and boiled chicken. Then my husband, the cats, and I watch “The Christmas Story”. Then I clean house and get ready for the rest of the week. My husband and I do not exchange gifts anymore because we have everything that we need.

I do have to admit that for several years now I have had the same wish and I am hoping that one day that wish will come true. Other than that I am very blessed and grateful for the life I have.

Christmas is also a day that reminds me of my faith and belief in God and how powerful his love really is. I am not religious, I used to be, but I do believe in God and I do talk to him every day.

God put Jesus on this earth to teach us kindness, love, compassion, generosity, forgiveness, and he also gave us the tools and knowledge to heal one another. Some how as a society we have lost our way and His teachings. The only time of year that we see a smidgen of generosity or kindness on a larger scale is at Christmas time.

Ok, I have two request for everyone this coming New Year! 1. Everyday do one kind, or generous, or compassionate, or loving thing, or forgive someone. 2. Pass this request around to all your friends and family so that they can make this their New Years resolution as well. None of these cost you anything (unless you choose to) except maybe a second of your time. In return you will receive a lighter heart, a warmth inside that is immeasurable, a feeling of great satisfaction, and you just might get a kiss or hug in return.

Thank you for reading through my rambling today, this wasn’t exactly what I had in mind to write when I sat down, but apparently this is what I am supposed to write because it just all came out rather easily.

Merry Christmas everyone and may you have a Happy Healthy New Year filled with much joy and many blessing!

Happy Thanksgiving….

Hello everyone, just wanted to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving and many blessings to you and your families this Holiday Season.

This year I made the mistake of waiting until today (two days before Thanksgiving) to go get everything for Thanksgiving dinner. It wasn’t too bad this afternoon, but patience isn’t my virtue when I am in a hurry. Good thing my husband was with me to make light of everything, which kept me calm.

My husband and I are going to have a quiet dinner together and then he will probably watch his football. I on the other hand have three different orders I got over the weekend that I need to get started on.

Speaking of last weekend, oh my goodness we had so much fun. This last weekend was the November show at the The Big Tin Cotton Gin, and it was beautiful outside. We had a few repeat customers from last month, last season and even met a few newcomers that plan to come back.

I did really well in sales and only have a few Christmas items left so the next few weeks are going to be crazy busy trying to restock everything and make more new stuff. Plus I have three really big orders that have to be done before the first of Dec.. No pressure! Actually I love having this kind of pressure it makes the blood flow and the brain works faster (when you get my age that is really important, it means your still alive), LOL……

Any who, things on the home front have been busy, fun, hectic, and you know just normal for us. Everyone has their own level of normal, so that is why I say “for us”.

Oh, have to tell you this cute story about Jackson. Well you all know about his little “pride” of female stray cats out front, right? There are 11 females that he has in “pride” and they all love him. He actually fronted off a neighbors lab that was running down the street towards them one day, although my husband was right there to grab him and put him in the house before anything happened. It was funny because Jackson just stood in the middle of the street while all the girls scattered, and the dog just stopped in front of him all surprised that he didn’t run too. It actually looked like the dog wanted to play with Jackson but my husband didn’t want to take the chance.

Jackson actually takes his duties of protecting his “pride” very seriously as well as keeping them in line. One night my husband went out to feed the girls and one of the older ones began to hiss at my husband before he even put the food down, Jackson ran over and got between my husband and her and proceeded to chase her away. So she didn’t get to eat with the rest that night, and that female has never hissed at my husband or I again.

Takara is doing really well with her high protein diet and is almost herself again. She just needs to gain a little more weight, but otherwise she is just as ornery as ever. She knows her eating schedule and she makes sure we don’t forget either, every two hours on the dot.

Well that just about covers everything for now. If you want to chit chat with me while I am crafting the next few weeks come on over to my Twitch Channel and say hi. I would love the company and then you can see what I am working on as well. I stream Monday – Friday 3 pm – 11 pm except holidays. I haven’t made any new You Tube videos recently but I still have the old ones listed and I plan to make a couple new ones soon.

Many, many thanks for reading this post, for following me and for your feedback. I really do appreciate all of you who have stuck with me these last few years and all my new followers. I love you all and wouldn’t be as inspired to continue this site if it weren’t for all of you. Thank You!

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Namaste

Sheila

P.S. Please say an extra prayer this Thanksgiving for all those in California that have lost a loved one, all those that lost their homes, the people that are helping the displaced, all the firefighters, police, and emergency personnel. These fires were devastating and now they are going to have the rains to contend with.

Happy Saturday

Good morning! Well for some of you it may not be starting out so well, after being out all night. For me it has started rather early (4 am) as per every day this week, but last night I got the best nights sleep I have had in a long time and today I feel refreshed.

Last weekend was the opening of the season at The Big Tin Cotton Gin and we had a blast. I met so many new wonderful people, saw a few of my awesome customers from last season, and made some new friends.

We sold quite a bit, at least enough to cover our booth rent and a little bit of the cost for product. I never really make a profit off my crafts at these shows, but that is alright as long as I can make enough to cover my booth rent. My payment is meeting the people that purchase my items and hearing their stories of who they intend to give them to, and why.

I have also gotten many good ideas from customers as to how I can improve items or change them up for different occasions or events. There have been many Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators that I have met and even exchanged ideas with (it is always awesome to meet a fellow Demonstrator).

As you can see it really was a very productive weekend and I am so looking forward to the next show November 16 -18, 2018.

This whole last week has been crazy with my husbands new job hours, so my schedule has been totally thrown off kilter. So the next week and a half I will be working my little fingers to the bones getting ready for the next show.

Please excuse me for not posting very often during show season, but I really am busy working about 18-20 hours a day seven days a week in between shows just prepping and making new items.

I will be steaming me working on stuff over on my twitch channel if you would like to come chat with me or you can watch my YouTube videos as well.

Thank you for your support and I hope that you have a wonderful Saturday doing whatever it is that you have planned for the day.

P..S. Yes, short but sweet and straight to the point. Thank you for noticing.

First Day of Show

Oh my goodness today was an awesome day! Let me begin by saying today was opening day of The Big Tin Cotton Gin Vintage and Repurposed Market and we had a wonderful turn out. I met some of the most wonderful people and had the best time getting to know my customers, they even gave me some great ideas on future projects so stay tuned.

The weather was just perfect for an October day in Arizona, not too warm but sunny with a light breeze. I woke up refreshed and ready to go at 6:30 am. Fed the cats, packed a lunch, put the roast in the crock pot, checked my blood sugar, ate breakfast, got ready and off we went. We didn’t forget a thing and hit all green lights except the last two, so we were actually an hour early.

It really is so amazing how the event area transforms overnight. We were there Thursday morning setting up and we were able to back our truck right up to our sight and unload everything that’s how empty it is. This morning we show up and there were vendors everywhere around us, it was so cool. I was very good today, I did not leave my booth and walk around although I was very tempted.

So I took some pictures of my booth to share with you along with some pictures of the items that I had at the show. Enjoy!

So if you are in Queen Creek on Sat. Oct. 20, 2018 then be sure to stop by to check out all the great gift item, home decor items, the awesome fudge from the fudge lady, beautiful handmade indoor/outdoor wooden benches and tables, lots of awesome vintage items and so much more. Please be sure to stop by my booth to say hi, I would love to see you. We will be open from 9:30 am to 4 pm, and Sunday we will be open from 9:30 am to 2 pm.

I am going to be streaming live on Twitch all day Sat., so keep you fingers crossed the internet connection stays strong out there. My Twitch channel is GinStB for those of you that might want to check it out.

Well, I need to get ready for bed and try to sleep a little bit through all this excitement. So until tomorrow….

Obstacles

Today it actually looks like fall, so it has gotten me in the mood to finish up a couple more fall projects for the arts and antiques sale in a couple of weeks. I have been able to get pretty much everything done for the show in the last couple months. I won’t panic until next week when I am down to the last minute, and then it is really going to be freak out time…maybe not!

Things seem to have come together quite well for the show this year, despite all the obstacles that have been thrown in our way . I totally recommend prayer because it really does work!

Speaking of obstacles our most recent one has been saving the life of our 11 year old girl fur baby. The last couple of weeks we have been taking turns feeding her by hand and giving her fresh water all day. We almost lost her and the only way we were able to bring her back to life was to feed her a high protein, high calorie diet.

Two and a half weeks ago we took her to the vets for her follow up on her hyperthyroidism and the medication she was taking for that. They weighed her and she had lost weight again. They wanted to test her urine again and do another blood test, so we agreed.  They took her to the back and when she came out she was all hunkered down and putting her butt on the table, she was traumatized. She didn’t do that the last time we were there 30 days earlier when they did all those same tests. I knew something was wrong from the minute I saw her, but they kept saying she was fine that she might be like that for a few hours, but she would be fine. She wasn’t because for the rest of the day she hid behind the couch and wouldn’t eat or drink anything.

That night she began to bleed out her back end and soaked the bath mat in our bathroom. She wouldn’t even move after that. I called the vets but they were closed and they don’t have an emergency hospital here. We did call the nearest veterinary hospital an hour away and they said to bring her in immediately, but when I told the girl how far away we lived she kinda hesitated. She finally said the best thing is to bring her in but under the circumstances if we could keep her alive until morning and take her to her vet first thing in the morning. I immediately went into survival/emergency mode. No time to fall apart now I had to keep her alive.

Needless to say I was up all night with her giving her water with an eye dropper and praying. She did stop bleeding shortly after we got off the phone with the Veterinary hospital. By morning she hadn’t improved, so I called the vet first thing. The Dr. said her tests showed her liver was shutting down and she had protein in her kidneys. The Vet wanted to put her on an IV, medication, do surgery, more follow ups, more medication, hospitalize her, etc., etc.. I fell apart!

All I could think about as the Dr. was talking is the trauma our fur baby would go through not understanding what was going on. Being away from me she would have gotten worse not better. She is Tonkinese and I belong to her. She doesn’t do well when I am not around her for long periods of time, ever since she was kidnapped a couple years ago. She is very leery around strangers now.

I did not like the idea of surgery or all the medication. We try to give our cats the most natural, healthy food, chemical free environment and healthy lifestyle. We try to live our lives that way, so shouldn’t our cats be living that way as well?

Another big factor is that my husband and are not financially wealthy by all means, and all that would have cost a lot more than we could afford. So, I asked the vet for a more natural alternative and cost effective way to helping our fur baby get back to herself. She said that we would have to feed her foods high in calories and vitamins like kitten food, and feed her like every hour. But she still wanted us to bring our fur baby back in for more tests and to give her a new thyroid medication.

My husband went to PetSmart and asked one of the workers for help. He said that he had three different people assisting him when he told them why he was there. They were so attentive and each person was knowledgeable about the items that they handed him. He came home with a feeding syringe, four cans of kitten food, and this awesome miracle gel food that I believe saved her life. That Booster Gel was the miracle that turned our fur baby around. After only a couple feedings we could already see the life back in her eyes.

The process has been long, but our fur baby is almost back to her old self again. She has been eating on her own for the last week, about every two hours now, and drinking water regularly.

She only gets fresh meat that I cook (or the rotisserie chicken my husband picked up at Sam’s Club) and prepare for her. She still likes her High Calorie Booster Gel as a snack/treat. She gets half a can of kitten food that she munches on all night and she has started to eat a little bit of her crunchy food in the last couple of days.

I will forever be thankful for the employees at PetSmart for helping my husband that morning and treating him with dignity, respect and compassion. Yes, our fur baby is an animal. Anyone who has a pet knows that they are just as much a member of the family as all the humans. So when they get sick, injured or die it still hurts the same as if they were a human family member. Those employees at PetSmart saw that and understood that when they were helping my husband.

Thank you for reading through this long post. I am sorry for not posting anything the last couple weeks, but as you can see we have been kinda preoccupied. Here are some pictures I took of our fur baby yesterday.
